An arc-shaped jade pendant of the kind called a huang, carved from nephrite. The form — a segment of a ring, usually drilled at both ends for suspension — is among the most persistent shapes in early Chinese jade work, and appears in burials from the Western Zhou onward. This example carries a low-relief animal mask at its centre.
