The idea
The Qing jadeite comb, reimagined as a comb that doubles as a pendant — worn at the throat or in the hair.
Not a reproduction
The historical piece is a Qing jadeite comb. This object keeps the comb silhouette in jadeite and silver but is scaled for wear as both comb and pendant; modern, not a copy.

Where it begins
This is a comb in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, dated by the museum to the Qing Dynasty. The recorded medium is jadeite, emerald-green with patches of light lavender. Its recorded height is 3.3 cm high. Accession number 02.18.503, gift of Heber R. Bishop, 1902.
Description follows the museum's own record; it is not an independent essay.
