The idea
The circular openwork pei becomes a pendant with a freely turning central disc — a small, constant motion drawn from a static ancient ring.
Not a reproduction
The source is a Qing circular nephrite pendant. This version is green jade with a rose-gold ring and a spinning centre; proportions and setting are modern.
Where it begins
A circular jade pendant carved with surface ornament. Ring-shaped pendants of this kind were worn suspended, and the form continues an ancient preference for circular jade.
